Le Quartier – A French Brasserie Experience in Jakarta

Le Quartier ('LQ') an French inspired brasserie nestle in between the bustling city life of Jakarta. Located in South Jakarta, it is the area where you can find food that suits the palate of the expatriates in Jakarta. Like most food establishment in Jakarta that are not in a shopping centre, they have occupied a whole shop house. The outer part can look pretty simple. An European theme building with colour combination of blue and cream colour.

Once you step through the main door you can see the full fledge bar island, which can comfortably up to 16 people surrounding the island. We were seated at back, which looks like an indoor terrace with a clear roof. During the day it allowed the natural sunlight to bask the dining area, while in the evening it should be a good setting for a gorgeous romantic setting.

The Bar

Though LQ is a French inspired restaurant, the cuisine here combines the traditional and modern European cuisine, not just solely on French.

The Dining Area

We started the Air flown fresh burrata from Umbria - Italy (Rp256k = S$28). Burrata was fresh, though the texture is dense instead of soft and fluffy. The fresh tomato, arugula salad combined with olive oil and balsamic just brings out the taste burrata. I tasted a hint of truffle oil, in which I find that it kind of overkill of this dish a little. I wonder where it came from, because there is no hint of mention of truffle oil in the menu.

Parisian Mushroom Soup (Rp76k = S$8.5). A solid mushroom soup with the white truffle oil floating on top. It is creamy and packs of mushroom flavours, while the truffle oil enhance the mushroom flavour in the soup. This goes well with the homemade bread, which has a thick and crispy crust, and spongy texture at the body of the bread.

We tried their signature pizza, White ham and truffle oil (Rp168k = S$19). The crust of the pizza was crisp with a chewy body. They fillings was generous with different texture from the ham, pine nuts, green pea pesto and mushrooms. Definitely one of the best pizza that I ever tried in Jakarta.

Roasted Half Chicken (Rp176k = S$20). It is part of their lunch special menu, but who can say no to a French roast chicken. It is medium in size, roast to perfection, tender, succulent, basked in its perfectly season roasting jus. The best part, they provide additional au jus on the side which I use as dipping sauce with the bread. One of the best roast chicken I ever tried. Salute Chef!!

Service was very good and courteous. Due to the location and the clientele, the service staff here have good understanding of English, though expect their reply to be in Indonesian English.

Overall, I was pretty satisfied by the standard of the food here. The quality is very good and the price is very reasonable. Definitely a must try restaurant / brasserie in Jakarta. Cheers!!

Thank you very much to Aunty WG and XC for bringing me here.
