Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar - HGW GSS Food Trail Part 3 [Media Invite]

Baked Bone Marrow @ Nassim Hill

Nassim Hill Bakery Bistro Bar ('NHB') is an exciting bistro located in Tanglin Post office building. NHB are well known for their Hot Reuben sandwich using its famed malt-flavoured Guinness Stout bread; as well as their new interpretation of classic dishes such as Spicy Eggs Benedict and Chili Crab pasta.

For those who enjoy their booze, NHB has extensive range of beers, wines, liquors, champagnes and cocktails. With the dim medieval tavern setting and huge communal tables, you are encouraged to share tables and mingle with each other.

Our tasting started with Chilli Crab ($25). This signature dish of NHB, comes with big chunks of crab meat and homemade chilli sauce. The chilli crab sauce is thick, robust and aromatic, packs with spicy punch as well. The al-dente spaghetti is well submerged in the chilli crab sauce ensuring you can taste the sauce in each bite. It makes you feel like ordering a plate of bread to finish off their sauce. If you are the kind that like spicy food, you can request the chef to spice it up to your palate.

Cheddar Cheese Bacon Waffles ($19). The waffle savoury version. One thing for sure, the crispy bacon is a must try. Though the chive sour cream provided a good sauce for the waffle, we are still not persuaded that waffle should be in savoury form.

Poutine ($13). My kind of comfort food. Fries, drenched with entrecôte sauce, mince beef and shredded mozzarella cheese. Fries was crispy, while a little tanginess in the entrecôte goes a long way to balance the richness of the mince beef and cheese. I have to admit, I polished up almost half of this dish on my own.

Bone marrow fan will be delighted here with Baked Bone Marrow ($12). Served with toasted baguette, parsley and shallots. The gooey yet almost tasteless bone marrow is a good companion to spread on the mini toasted bread. The shallots and parsley is there to add flavour to the marrow.

Dessert was Triple X (with Triple Sec) - $9 per slice. It is rich, thick and moist at the same time. Chocolategasm!!

Overall, the dining experience in NHB is truly a positive one. The food is wholesome and the price is reasonable as well. Definitely worth to check out and a great place to mingle and chill out.
